Our capabilities at Automatic Anodizing include the ability to perform hard coat anodizing in accordance with MIL-A-8625 Type III specifications. The part highlighted here is a 6061 aluminum clamping pulley that is used by a customer in the medical industry. The pulley measures only 0.04″ square and required selective masking to protect the intricate part features during anodizing.
Prior to anodizing all parts were thoroughly cleaned to ensure that the aluminum surface would not contaminate the sulfuric acid bath. Proper cleaning and etching is essential to ensure the anodizing process is successful. During anodizing, the parts were placed on a titanium rack for maximum contact with the anodizing bath and allowed to develop a hard coating between 0.0004″ and 0.0007″, according to customer specifications. The anodized surface was sealed to provide maximum corrosion resistance.
This project included the anodizing of 20,000 parts with a one day turnaround and demonstrates not only our high volume processing capability, but our ability to meet rush order deadlines. We have a wealth of experience in developing custom solutions for anodizing complex parts to stringent quality standards.
